Museum In The Streets

Lewiston and Auburn is excited to publicize Museum in the Streets© L-A River History Trail showcasing 30 historical markers that connects both sides of the Androscoggin River. The markers depict the cities’ proud heritage of community and have been written in both English and French so as to serve as a reminder of our rich Franco history and help guide residents and tourists to learn more about the two cities’ rich history all while walking along the river and around the two downtowns.

A special thanks to the Cities of Lewiston and Auburn who were instrumental in not only funding, but working with The Androscoggin Historical Society, GROW L+A RIVER WORKING GROUP, Museum L-A, Androscoggin Land Trust, Healthy Androscoggin and Bates College in making a trail that promotes historical identity, educates, encourages preservation of local historic sites and promotes knowledge of stories, events and traditions.
